Masyn Marchbanks signs with Samford basketball

Masyn Marchbanks, a senior basketball play for the Hartselle Lady Tigers, signed with the Samford Lady Bulldogs basketball program last Friday.

Marchbanks, a four-year starter for head coach Gary Orr, committed to the Lady Bulldogs in January.

She finished her junior season averaging 19.8 points per game, along with 5.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 4.0 steals. She led the Lady Tigers in all four categories. She eclipsed the 1,000 point mark for her career in a 40-35 win over then #2 Athens on January 12, 2021.

“It feels like I have crossed one threshold heading into another chapter of my life,” said Marchbanks. “I know the plans God has for me, and I feel that this moment is planting me in fertile soul for the rest of my life.”

As she looked back on her career, she said that her favorite moment came when she was injured, and she watched her team step up without her to win the 2020 Morgan County Tournament.

“I can now relax knowing that the recruiting part of my life is now over and now focus on basketball and my teammates,” said Marchbanks.
