High-speed chase ends in two deaths

Special to the Enquirer

Two people are dead following a high-speed chase incident Saturday, according to Hartselle police.

At approximately 10:30 p.m. Sept. 18, deputies encountered a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Highway 31 in the Flint area. A traffic stop was initiated, with the vehicle accelerating past 100 miles per hour and failing to yield.

At 10:31 p.m., the pursuit was canceled because of weather/road conditions.

At approximately 10:34 p.m. the vehicle was located at a single-vehicle rollover wreck on Highway 31 at Lane Road in Hartselle, shutting down the southbound lanes of Highway 31.

Harley Wayne Hill, 24, of Decatur was pronounced dead at the scene.

Abagale Victorine Holladay, 25, of Athens was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, where she later died.

Morgan County coroner Jeff Chunn responded to the scene and notified families.

Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including Hartselle Police Department, Hartselle Fire and Rescue and Lifeguard EMS. HPD is handling the traffic investigation.
