Summerford Nursing Home observes National Nursing Home Week

Summerford Nursing Home and Rehab staff, residents and visitors enjoyed each day’s activities during National Nursing Home Week, with special foods as well.

The last day of the celebration was May 14. Everyone enjoyed the morning and afternoon talent shows, pizza, lemonade, orange punch and ice cream.

The 2 p.m. talent show was held outdoors in the pavilion. The winners were: first place, the grand finale vocal and dance group; second place, Ruby Bailey, who lifted the rafters with the song “Crazy;” third place, Kelsey Wooten, with a tap dance routine to the song “Cotton Eye Joe;” and fourth place, the staff organizers doing a Super Bowl Halftime Commercial tied with Becca, Rhonda and Barbara in Las Vegas style, performing a rousing “Proud Mary” – and everyone did a singalong!

The winners from the morning talent show were: in first, William Albert Newton; second, Martha Puckett; third, Helen Griffin; and fourth, Emily Brown.

Special congratulations go out this week to the Brewer High School boys soccer all area selections for 2021: first team, Gonzalo Ramirez, Noe Perez, Victor Correa, Charlie Humphrey, Sonny Walley and Caden Childers and second team, Parker Carlton, Alex Hardage, Mason Humphrey, Derek Correa, Eric Chavez and David Perez.

God bless all our veterans

I would greatly appreciate it if everyone would please remember to shake the hand of a veteran and thank them for their service!

I pray that we never forget that by God’s grace and the sacrifices of all of our brave young women and men that our great country still maintains the freedoms of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

My late grandfather served in the Navy during World War II, and my late dad served in the Korean War!

God bless all of our veterans!
