Wednesday boys basketball notebook: Hartselle bounces back in win over Leeds

Hartselle bounced back from their second loss of the season with an 85-61 win over Leeds in the Metro Tournament at Homewood on Wednesday.

Leeds took a 14-10 lead following the first quarter.

The Tigers outscored the Greenwave 26-18 in the second quarter to take a 36-32 lead at halftime. They extended the lead to 66-46 after scoring 30 points in the third quarter.

Brody Peebles scored a game-high 35 points to lead Hartselle (12-2). Luke Ward hit six 3-pointers and finished with 20 points.

Chris Davidson scored a team-high 13 for Leeds. Jamal Jordan had 12, while Josh Ruff added 11.

Gardendale 66, Brewer 65

Brewer lost their second consecutive one-point game in day three action at the West Morgan Christmas Tournament.

Mac Shadden and Mann McLemore each had 15 points to lead Brewer (4-10). Matt Kempson added 14 points.

Jalon Moore led Gardendale with 28 points.
