Hartselle wins Eddie Preuitt Ford Volleyball Tournament

The Hartselle Tigers survived a talented field to win the Eddie Preuitt Ford Volleyball Tournament Saturday evening at Hartselle High School. 

The field included 7A ranked teams No. 5 Sparkman and No. 8 Bob Jones, 5A ranked teams No. 3 Alexandria, No. 4 GuntersvilleNo. 6 Madison Academy, No. 7 Ramsay and No. 8 West Point, along with 3A No. 2 Danville and 2A No. 1 Addison. 

The Tigers won their pool with wins over Woodlawn (24-4, 25-3), Helena (25-14, 25-13), and Grissom (25-17, 25-6). 

Hartselle opened bracket play against 5A No. 7 Ramsay. The Tigers defeated the Rams 25-19 and 25-19 to advance to the semi-finals. 

The Tigers next defeated 7A No. 8 Bob Jones 25-16 and 25-12 to advance to the finals. 

In the finals, Hartselle met 7A No. 5 Sparkman. The Senators jumped out to a one-set lead following a 28-26 win in the first set, but the Tigers roared back to win the championship by defeating Sparkman 26-24 and 15-10. 

Hailey Holshouser led the Hartselle attack with 42 kills, 48 digs, and six aces. Lillyanna Cartee added 40 kills, 38 digs, seven blocks, and three aces, while Jessica Jarrett finished with 34 digs, 11 kills, seven blocks, and five aces.  

Grace Tapscott had 127 assists, 19 digs, and six aces, and Lydia Simmons added 26 kills.
