Timothy Paul Waldrop

A graveside funeral service and interment for Timothy Paul Waldrop, 72, were held Aug. 27 at 11 a.m. at Hartselle City Cemetery with the Rev. Clayton Speed officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Waldrop died Aug. 24 at his residence. He was born July 27, 1948, in Cullman County to Tom Garland Waldrop and Mary Paul Dean Waldrop.
He was a graduate of Morgan County High School and of Auburn University with a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in journalism, and he did other graduate work at Alabama A & M.
He loved the Auburn Tigers and enjoyed watching James Clemens Jets football. He was an avid reader, enjoyed bike riding, loved spending time with family and friends and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hartselle.
He was formerly employed with Monsanto as a media specialist and worked with the personnel department.
Survivors include one brother, George R. Waldrop, (Pat Waldrop), Hartselle; one sister, Judith Waldrop Woodcock, Hartselle; one nephew, Wade Waldrop (Kimberly), Madison; one niece, Laura Waldrop, Birmingham; three great-nieces; one great-nephew; and a host of cousins.
Pallbearers were Larry Fields, Tommy Waldrop, Wade Waldrop, John Hart, David Orr and Bobby Looney. In lieu of flowers, please donate memorials to your favorite charity or religious organization.
Franklin Ray Moore
Hartselle
Funeral service for Franklin Ray Moore, 70, was Aug. 27 at 6 p.m. at Calvary Holiness Church with Bro. Corey Morrow and Bro. Curtis Thornberry officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Moore died Aug. 25 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born June 29, 1950, in Morgan County to Joe Eubanks and Leona Moore Eubanks.
He was employed as a truck driver for 30 years with Good Hope Contracting. He was an avid Alabama fan, a true friend to many and a loving father and grandfather to his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include his mother, Leona Eubanks, life partner, Brenda Childers; three sons, James Moore (Donna), Scottie Moore (Vanessa) and Anthony Childers (Valeta); two daughters, Hannah McMillan (Tony) and Renee McMillan (Jay); 12 grandchildren, Zach Moore, Jacob Moore, Jeannie Moore, Alyissa Moore, Gracie Moore, Tanner Moore, Chasity Leeth, John McMillan, Fletcher McMillan, Elizabeth McMillan, Clarissa Tankersley and Melody Moore; and many great-grandchildren.
John Howard Roberts
Neel
Funeral service for John Howard Roberts, 69, was Aug. 27 at 3 p.m. at Fairview Baptist Church with Bro. Paul Stowe and Bro. Myron Mooney officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Herring Cemetery.
Mr. Roberts died Aug. 24 at Decatur Morgan Hospital ER. He was born Feb. 19, 1951, in Morgan County to James Howard Roberts and Lily Clara Brown Roberts. He was a carpenter and farmer and built many, many homes in this area as the owner of John Roberts Construction.
He loved carpentry and building things, gardening and farming. He was a deacon at Cornerstone Baptist Church and a school board member of Cornerstone Christian School.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Zane Roberts; his children, Kelly Roberts Johnson (Matthew), Amy Roberts, Emily Roberts Grimes (Daniel) and Jed Mitchell Roberts (Ashley); one brother, James Keith Roberts (Kim); two sisters, Linda Reed (Jimmy) and Betty Jo Roberts; and his grandchildren: Zane, Carson, Levi, Reagan, Annabelle, Rhett, Clara and Emmie.
Pallbearers were Jed Roberts, Matthew Johnson, Daniel Grimes, Garion McCleskey, Brian McCleskey, Zane Johnson. Levi Johnson and Jeff Anders.
Loyd Dewayne Girod
Hartselle
Funeral service for Loyd Dewayne Girod, 62, was Aug. 28 at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Danny Pitts officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Mr. Girod died Aug. 25 at his residence. He was born Sept. 23, 1957, in Montana, to Loyd D. Girod and Omera Faye McIntosh Girod. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force after serving 13 years, after which he was employed at Bunge Corporation as an operator for 24 years prior to his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Donald E. Girod.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy King Girod, Hartselle; two sons, Michael Dewayne Girod (Angela), Schamburg, Illinois, and Timothy A. Girod, Schamburg, Illinois; one daughter, Susan N. Marsh (David), Hartselle; two sisters, Sonya Wilson (Lonnie), Harriet, Arkansas, and Rhonda McMahan (Mike), Tiller, Arkansas; one half-sister: Donna Dempe, Texas; and three grandchildren, Justice Girod, Schamburg, Illinois, Michael Girod, Schamburg, Illinois, and Bo Turrentine, Hartselle.
Pallbearers were David Marsh, Michael Girod, Tim Girod, Charlie Jones, Clayton Jones, Mason Moore and Andy Wilson.
Janie “Jan” Ruth Maples
Somerville
Mrs. Janie “Jan” Maples died Aug. 26 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. She was born April 1, 1945, in Limestone County to Nina Belle Haggermaker. She was the most beautiful and wonderful wife and mother in the world. She enjoyed collecting angels and was an animal lover.
Her mother preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Louis Maples; one son, Greg Maples (Angelia); one daughter, Lisa Stephenson (Preston); four grandchildren, Cole Stephenson, Arthur “A.J.” Johnson, Lyle Wallace and Daniel Wallace; and four great-grandchildren.
No services are scheduled at this time.
Michael Allan Cagle
Falkville
Michael Allan Cagle, 66, of Falkville passed away Aug. 27 at Huntsville Hospital. A private graveside service will be conducted at a later date.
Peck Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Hobert and Iva Cagle of Falkville.
Survivors include three brothers, Hobert Cagle Jr. (Linda), John Cagle (Ann) and James Cagle (Cindy); and one sister, Bonnie Self (Mark).
Mike graduated from Falkville High School in 1972 and attended Calhoun Community College. He was employed 33 years with GE in Decatur. He enjoyed yearly hunting trips to Canada and Maine for black bear and Colorado for elk, and he enjoyed bream fishing in Guntersville. He loved old car shows and restoring old trucks.
John Howard Lockhart
Hartselle
John Howard Lockhart was born Nov. 8, 1925. He died Aug. 29, 2020.
His parents were U Estes Lockhart and Audrey M. Entrekin Lockhart.
Graveside service was at 2 p.m. at Hartselle City Cemetery with the Rev. Bobby Ray Halbrooks officiating and Peck Funeral Home Directing.
He graduated from Morgan County High School in 1944. He served in the 301st Naval Construction Battalion (Seabees) and the United States Navy from 1944-1946. He earned a bachelor’s degree in 1950 and master’s degree in 1957 from Alabama Polytechnic Institute (now Auburn University). He taught vocational agriculture at Danville High School and Morgan County High School, 1952-1987.
He was preceded in death by parents; sister, Wilma A. Lockhart Hutson Burleson; and two brothers, James E. Lockhart and Norman B. Lockhart.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Heflin Lockhart of Hartselle; daughter, Abigail H. Lockhart of Lilburn, Georgia; two sons, Timothy J. Lockhart (Anne) of Norfolk, Virginia, and Andrew H. Lockhart (Leslie) of Huntsville; and three grandchildren, Jackson T. Lockhart, Bailey H. Lockhart and Margaret E. G. Lockhart.
Pallbearers were family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hartselle First United Methodist Church Capital Fund.
Elbert Harris Baldwin Jr.
Decatur
Funeral service for Elbert Harris Baldwin Jr., 74, of Decatur will be Sept. 2 at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Cecil Berry officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Peck Funeral Home is directing. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
He was born Nov. 6, 1945, in Morgan County to Elbert Harris Baldwin Sr. and Ella Mae Jinks Baldwin.
He passed away Aug. 29 at his residence.
Elbert served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He worked for Flour-Daniels for 30 years. He was also an avid Gun Collector.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Nell Stewart.
Survivors include a daughter, Jamie Robinson (Larry), Hartselle; a son, Zachery Baldwin (Natasha), Harvest; two sisters, Betty Springer and Martha Loosier; and three grandchildren, Landon Robinson, Kevin Baldwin and Ethan Baldwin.
Pallbearers were Drew Smith, Allen Smith, Barry Smith, Terry Stringer, Sam Stewart and Jeff Stringer.
John M. Schofield
Falkville
Mr. John M. Schofield died Aug. 10 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born Oct. 12, 1945, in Missouri to John Marcus Schofield Sr. and Melba O. Saak Schofield, who preceded him in death.
Survivors include one brother, William R. Schofield; one sister-in-law, Lynn R. Schofield; two nephews, Rabon Schofield and William Martin Schofield; and one niece, Lisa S. Ingram.

Wendy Wilson
Hartselle
A graveside memorial service and interment for Wendy Wilson, 63, will be held Sept. 5 at 10 a.m. in the Lincoln Memory Gardens in Whitestown, Indiana. Peck Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Miss Wilson died Aug. 30 at Hospice Family Care. She was born Nov. 22, 1956, in Indiana to Jimmie K. Wilson Sr. and Georgia Ann Rider Wilson. She was employed in retail for Kmart and Walmart prior to her passing.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Jimmie K. Wilson Jr.
Survivors include two brothers, Terry Wilson (Martha) and Jerry Wilson; sister, Kathy Jo Wilson Stoddard (Jim); nephew, Rick Stoddard; niece, Tracey Pitts; great-nephew, Daniel Pitts; and great-niece, Brooklinn Pitts.
