Hartselle Tigers Elite wins 8U USSSA National Championship

The Hartselle Tigers Elite, an 8U travel softball team, won the 2020 USSSA National Championship this past weekend in Gulf Shores. 

The team went 6-1 during the tournament.  

The Tigers Elite started off going 3-0 in pool play with wins over Battitude from Arkansasthe Perry Peaches from Georgia and the Tennessee Legends.  

Following pool play, the Tigers lost to the Lady Raiders of Oklahoma. The loss put them in the Silver Championship Bracket. 

The Tigers opened bracket play with an 18-0 win over the Perry Peaches. In the semifinals they defeated the Kentucky Lightning 9-8, and in the finals they beat the Birmingham Giants 12-11 in extra innings to win the championship. 

They finished the shortened summer season 17-4-2 in USSSA play. 

The players on the team are Scarlett LeCompte, Aubrey Mize, Taylor Mize, Emma Clark, Bella Meadows, Ally Easter, Aurora Brenner, Laylah Dooley, Macie Tillman, Adlee Crawford and Haley Peek. 

The coaches are Eric Brenner, Jason LeCompte and John Peek.
