HPD charges Moulton woman with theft

Special to the Enquirer

June 13, Hartselle investigator Tania Burgess arrested Jessie Leighann Trent, 34, of Moulton, for theft of Property, third degree

Burgess began an investigation into the theft of property, which barely exceeded $500, after Trent was allegedly seen exiting the store with a shopping cart containing the stolen property. Once in the parking lot, Trent reportedly abandoned the cart, leaving behind the merchandise. Trent also left her wallet, which contained almost $700 cash and her Alabama driver’s license.

Burgess said she was able to identify Trent from comparing her driver’s license photograph to the surveillance video, and she obtained a warrant for Trent’s arrest.

Bond was set at $1,000.
