Morgan County woman celebrates 106th birthday

Fleda Monk celebrates a big milestone: The Morgan County woman turned 106 years old June 16, and she was surprised by family and friends with a drive–by birthday party. Monk, the oldest resident at Falkville Healthcare Center, smiled and waved as the parade passed by. The parade was staged by family members and friends from across the state. Monk was married to Hollis Monk for 59 years and is the mother of four sons, Holland, Frank, Larry and Carl Monk. Turn to page B1 for more photos.
