Jerry Durand Williams
Falkville
A graveside funeral service and interment for Jerry Durand Williams, 77, was held May 19 at 11 a.m. at Corinth Methodist Church and Cemetery with the Rev. Ricky Ball and the Rev. Melvin Edward Pope officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Williams died May 16 at his residence. He was born May 9, 1943, in Morgan County to Guy Kermit Williams and Martha Ann Hill Williams Thomas. He was employed by Alabama Guard Rail as a supervisor, manufacturing overhead signs and guard rails, prior to his retirement.
His parents preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Williams; two sons, Danny Williams and Barry Williams; one daughter, Angelique Williams; one sister, Sue Williams; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were Dakota Williams, Reford Williams, Neal Pope, Steve Shadden, Dennis Shadix, Dusty Shadix. Tim Roberts and Phillip Hill.
Ray D. Terry
Athens
A graveside funeral service with military honors and interment for Ray D. Terry, 82, was held May 21 at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Cemetery with chaplain John Davis officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Terry died May 17. He was born Nov. 20, 1937, in Morgan County to Burkett Almon Terry and Jenny White Terry. He was employed with the Local #377 Steamfitters Union as a pipefitter and welder prior to his retirement. He was a Korean War veteran, serving with the United States Air Force, and also a member of the Freemasons.
Preceding him in death were his parents and siblings J.D. Terry, Leslie Terry, Florine Terry, Dewayne Terry and Mavis Terry.
Survivors include two sons, Shannon Terry and Johnny Ray; one daughter, Tina Hodges; one sister, Beverly Teague; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were Nathan Ransom, Timothy Elidge, Jason Schrader, Michael Schrader, Chad Cryer, Caden Cryer and Shannon Terry.
Steven Anthony Kelsoe
Danville
Funeral service for Steven Anthony Kelsoe, 63, was held May 20 at 1:30 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jack Bailey and Bro. Joe David Bailey officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Johnson Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. Kelsoe died May 18 at Huntsville Hospital. He was born July 16, 1956, in Lawrence County. He was employed as a supervisor at 3M Company prior to his retirement after 35 years of service. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending time as an avid hunter and fisherman.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Bluitt and Cleo Sandlin.
Survivors include his wife, Lisa Long Kelsoe; two daughters, Ashley Kelsoe Smith and Lindsey Eady (Jason); two sisters, Jan Hembree and Kathy Gossett; three grandchildren, Emma Eady, Jeremiah Levi “J” Smith Jr. And Jase Anthony Eady; his mother, Icy Mae Kelsoe Meherg; two half-brothers, Tim Meherg and Tom Meherg; and one half-sister, Karen Meherg Jones.
Pallbearers were Casey Long, Chris Hensley, David Kelsoe, Tracy Kelsoe, Jon Palmer and Jerry Summerford.
John Thomas Compton
Hartselle
Funeral service for JT Compton, 36, was held May 22 at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Nicky Pressnell officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Peebles Family Cemetery.
Mr. Compton died May 15 at his residence. He was born Dec. 3, 1983, in Morgan County to John Owen Compton and Tammy Annette Peebles Compton. He was a self-employed contractor prior to his passing.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Survivors include his father, John Owen Compton; one sister, Amber Ellis (Nick); one niece, Brantley Burgess; two nephews, Grayson Ellis and Jackson Ellis; and grandmother, Nedra Compton.
Pallbearers were family and friends.
Ruth Teague
Hartselle
A graveside funeral service and interment for Ruth Teague, 92, was held May 21 at 2 p.m. at Hartselle City Cemetery with Phillip Hines officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Teague died May 18 at her residence. She was born Nov. 6, 1927, in Cullman County to Floyd V. Bibb and Clara Lewis Bibb.
Ruth (Mudge) was raised on Old Corn Road in Cullman County. She grew up on a farm with her parents and siblings, where she was taught the meaning of a day’s work. She attended West Point School and married Gene Teague in 1947. They lived in Hartselle most of their lives and raised two children, Greg
and Gale.
She worked at Acorn Products several years and later did some house cleaning. She was a great cook, and her family always insisted that she make the dressing for all the holiday meals. She was a wonderful
gardener who maintained an immaculate yard and flowers.
She was a devout member of the Hartselle church of Christ.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Gene Teague; a brother, Floyd Bibb Jr.; two sisters, Marie Miller and Hannah Brinn; and her parents.
Survivors include one daughter, Gale Gann (Jimmy); one son, Gregory Teague (Cindy); two grandchildren, Cory Teague and Valerie Singleton; and four great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank Summerford Nursing Home and Hospice of North Alabama for their compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Hartselle church of Christ building fund.
Mavene “Beanie” Brown Holt
Hartselle
A graveside funeral service and interment for Mavene Brown Holt, 84, were held May 22 at 3 p.m. at Johnson Chapel Cemetery with Bro. Jimmy Legg and Bro. Wendell Callahan officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Holt died May 20 at her residence. She was born April 29, 1936, in Lawrence County to Thomas Walter Brown and Lula Maud (McCormick) Brown.
She was employed as an LPN for Hartselle Medical Center and Baugh Wiley Hospital prior to her retirement. Mrs. Holt was a member of the Oak Ridge Baptist Church, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Disabled American Veteran’s Auxiliary, and she enjoyed attending the Senior Center at Neel. She was a longtime caregiver to her family and friends.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Hoyit Holt; her stepsons, Spencer and Arvel Holt; and her parents.
Her family extends special thanks to Southern Care Hospice.
Survivors include her daughter, Myra Faulkner, Hartselle; three sons, Jack Holt, Michigan, Howard Holt, Michigan, and Wallace Holt, Kentucky; two sisters, Ruth Wallace, Hartselle, and Ruby George, Tennessee; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Truman Wallace, Randy George, Josh Reed, Kelly Johnson, Trenton Hart and Dalton Hart.
Faye Peck
Trinity
A graveside funeral service and Interment for Faye Peck, 89, were held May 23 at Hartselle City Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing.
Ms. Peck died May 20 at Summerford Nursing Home. She was born June 17, 1930, in Morgan County to John William Campbell and Mary Gladys Roy Campbell. She was employed by Decatur General Hospital in communications, prior to her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her son, Bob Peck; her brother, John Campbell Jr., and her parents.
