Brody Peebles scores 2,000th point in Sub-Regional win over Columbia

HARTSELLE – Brody Peebles scored his 2,000th point late in the first quarter of Hartselle’s 75-53 win over Columbia in sub-regional play on Tuesday night.

“It is awesome to reach this milestone,” said Peebles. “I didn’t want this game to be about me. It feels good to see my hard work to pay off. Credit goes to my team for helping me get here. I want to thank God for giving me the opportunity to play this sport.”

Peebles entered the game needing just two points to reach the milestone.

The moment finally came with Hartselle leading 14-12 late in the first quarter. He drove the baseline and hit a one-handed floater over two Columbia defenders.

“Consistency over time is what it takes to score 2,000 in 3 years,” said Hartselle coach Faron Key. “We always talk about people working hard and good things happening to those who put in the work. Basketball isn’t work for Brody, it’s a hobby. It gives him great joy to practice, and therefore it’s not work at all for him…it’s just fun for him.  I am happy for him and I am looking forward to trying to accomplish great things together with him!”

He finished the game with 35 points and now has 2,033 for his career.
