Cartee’s double-double leads Lady Tigers to victory over Decatur

CULLMAN – Hartselle entered post-season play on Monday looking to put an end to a three-game losing streak. The Lady Tigers got back in the win column with a resounding 64-38 win over Decatur in the 6A Area 14 semi-final.

The Lady Tigers broke open a close game with a 17-3 run in the second quarter to lead 31-12 at halftime. They extended the lead to 47-18 to close out the third.

Hartselle was led by junior Lillyanna Cartee, who finished 17 points and 10 rebounds. Jessica Jarrett added a career-high 13 points and eight rebounds.

Alyssa McMinemon and Carrington Hogan each had nine points for the Lady Tigers.

Hartselle (18-13) advances to the area championship game to play Cullman on Thursday night.

Priceville 82, West Morgan 36 – Zoey Benson and Jenna Walker combined for 35 points in Priceville’s 82-36 over West Morgan in the first 4A Area 13 semi-final on Monday Night.

The Lady Bulldogs jumped out to a 24-4 lead in the first and led 42-21 at halftime. They extended the lead to 62-31 heading into the fourth quarter.

Priceville (19-9) was led by Benson, who finished with 20 points, seven rebounds, and three steals. Walker, a Western Kentucky commit, added 15 points, six assists, and six steals.

Abigail Garrison had nine points and four steals for the Lady Bulldogs. Brianna Marquette, Olivia Duran, and Natalie Cartee each had eight points. Olivia Gann finished with seven assists while Lannah Johnson dished out six.

West Morgan was led by Jada Gray, who finished with 18 points.

Priceville will face St. John Paul II on Thursday in the area championship game at 6:00 pm at Priceville High School.

St. John Paul II defeated Danville 44-32 to advance to Thursday’s championship game.

Brewer will meet Scottsboro in the area championship game on Thursday night at Brewer High School.

Lynn advances to the area semi-finals to face top-seeded Decatur Heritage today at 4:30 pm

Falkville meets Meek in the other semi-final tonight at 5:45 pm.

Boys – 1A Area 13

Falkville 44 – 42 St. Bernard

Falkville advances to the area semi-finals to face top-seeded Decatur Heritage tonight at 7:00 pm.
