Lady Tigers jump out to early lead in 55-40 victory over Decatur

HARTSELLE – Hartselle jumped out to a 12-0 lead to in their area win over the Lady Red Raiders. They led 14-5 at the end of the first.

The Lady Tigers extended their lead to 18 with a 9-0 run to start the second quarter. They finished the first half with a 31-16 lead.

Masyn Marchbanks scored 16 of her game-high 26 points during the Lady Tigers big first half. She added five steals and four rebounds.

Decatur opened the third quarter on an 11-3 run to cut the Hartselle lead to single digits at 34-27. The Lady Tigers closed the quarter on an 8-2 run to end the third with a 42-29 lead.

The Lady Raiders made one final run, 7-2, to cut the lead back to single digits at 44-36. Hartselle closed out the victory with an 11-3 run to end the game.

Decatur (0-18, 0-1) was led by K’Tlyn Taylor, who finished with 13 points. Whitney Chapman added eight points.

Lillyanna Cartee added 10 points, eight rebounds, and four assists for the Lady Tigers while Carrington Hogan and Alyssa McMinemon each had six points.

UP NEXT: Hartselle (12-8, 1-0) will host Cullman (11-8, 0-0) on Friday night.
