The young woman was nervous. It was her first day on the job, and somehow, she mixed up the order for this young couple. 

The young man was in a rage. He sternly reprimanded her and informed her he just might complain to the management. She went into the back room sobbing.

How impressive this young man felt. He felt right in what he did. If she is going to get paid for this kind of work, she must be able to do it correctly. At the end of the meal, he left a tip of one cent. He knew she would remember him and give him excellent service should he ever eat in that restaurant again.

He went back home and prepared to make a visit. One of the members in his church had asked him to go with him to meet a new family in town. They intended to invite them to church and talk to them about Christ. 

He and the member arrived at the appointed time and were met at the door by a young husband. He escorted them into the den to introduce them to his wife. The husband told them she had endured a difficult day at work. It was her first day, and some uncaring customer totally humiliated her.

A few minutes later, as they walked back to the car, the question was asked, “Was it worth it?”

Matthew 5:14-16: “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
