Godsey takes head coaching job at Madison Academy

Hartselle Tigers head coach has taken a job at Madison Academy according to a press release from the school.

“Madison Academy is pleased to announce that Bob Godsey has accepted the position as head coach of the Mustang football program beginning immediately. Coach Godsey comes to MA from Hartselle High School, where his teams accomplished 14 playoff appearances, five region titles, multiple quarter-final and semi-final appearances and a state championship in 2011,” the release reads. “His accolades include multiple coach of the year awards and his overall record in 21 years as a head coach is 183 – 66, placing him among the state’s elite in career wins.”

‘We are honored to have Coach Godsey join the Mustang family,” said MA President Dr. Terry Davis. “His experience and success as a football coach is well-recognized, and his lifelong commitment to developing young men of character fits well with our mission at Madison Academy.”

Godsey will replace Grant Reynolds who took a position in East Hamilton, Tenn. Madison Academy is coming off a 10-2 season in 5A. Hartselle High School has not yet made any announcements regarding who may replace Godsey. Check back for updates to this developing story.
