The Patriot’s well-fought effort came up short on the road Friday night against Arab.

Brewer head football coach Geoff Walters said the teams were tied 0-0 at the end of the first quarter, and Arab took advantage of a Brewer bad snap to grab a safety early in the second quarter to give them their first lead.

“We had some unfortunate mistakes that led to Arab getting two points after we had a bad, high snap,” Walters said. “They scored also after that and led us 9-0 at the half.”

Walters said Arab was able to recover an onside kick in the third quarter to setup their next score.  Brewer was able to get on the board in the third quarter as well.

“We had two starters out and were able to have one of them back, but our offensive line is young,” Walters said. “We have a bunch of good, young kids who are getting good experience and reps for the future. Last night was an important game and we hate to lose it, but we fought hard. We had some missed opportunities, but we will continue to work and get better with each week.”

Brewer is 0-6, and 0-3 in region play and will travel to Etowah Friday night, October 9.
