Gibsons entertain visitors

Visiting with Herman and Adell Gibson have been Gail Hopper, Doris Copeland, Bertha Lee Hill, J.C. Dunaway, Howard and Helen Gibson, Franklin and Sue Harrison, Wayne and Gail Howard, Lavon Gibson, Jerry Moody and Steve McClellan.

August is National Peach month, and it is a good time to use fresh peaches in your favorite recipe.

The peach is celebrated in June in Alabama. The Chilton County Peach Festival, which was first held in 1947, is one of the oldest, if not the oldest, peach celebrations in the state.

The Festival was held this year June 20-26. There were many fun things to do such as a peach run, cook-off, live music, a parade and much more.

This event was one of the highlights (during the summer) to my brother Jimmie and me. We would hop up on the train to visit our grandparents, aunts and uncles for the week and attend the Peach Festival.

A pet peeve is talk shows where people call in to radio stations and talk about things that would interest no one except themselves.

Members of First Baptist Church Falkville extend birthday wishes to those who have birthdays in August: Thad Brath on Aug. 6, Breanna Mitchell on Aug. 15, Beth Rowe Powell on Aug. 16, Grace Rowe on Aug. 19, Danny Davis on Aug. 21 and Eddie Johnson on Aug. 25.
