Hartselle High School athlete Katy Beth Bole signed a letter of intent to play tennis for Snead State Community College on Wed., April 29 at Hartselle High School.

Bole’s family, friends, teammates and HHS faculty attended the signing, along with Snead State Athletic Director Mark Richard.

“We are excited for Katy Beth, her parents and Snead,” Richard said. “We hear we’re getting a good athlete.”

Bole, who began playing tennis in eighth grade, has the best overall singles record at HHS for the 2015 season and was chosen for the All-Area team for the past four years. Bole has played four sports but chose to focus on tennis and volleyball for her senior year. She was also named to the Hartselle Enquirer’s Honorable Mention All-Area Volleyball Team in 2014.

HHS Tennis Coach Regina Hudson said Bole definitely has the ability to play tennis in college. She said she expected Bole to get a tennis scholarship if she chose to play. Beth Bole, Bole’s mother, said that Hudson has worked with and been an encouragement to her daughter.

Bole said she made the decision to play college tennis six months ago and chose Snead State because it will allow her to experience living in a new town while remaining close to home. “I am looking forward to meeting new people,” Bole said. “I’m a little nervous, but I have played against some of my future teammates before, so I’m familiar with them.”

She plans to continue practicing to prepare for her freshman tennis season.
