Bases-loaded walk lifts Hartselle past Cullman

Sara Faulk walked with the bases loaded to score Anna Stinson in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift Hartselle to a 3-2 win over rival Cullman April 7.

Bailey Powell’s two-run single in the bottom of the third inning stood as the only runs until the seventh inning. Taylor Wascavage started the rally with a two-out triple. Hayes walked and stole second base to set up Powell’s hit.

Cullman rallied with a two-run single of its own to tie the game and send it to an extra inning.

Hannah Jenkins paced Hartselle with a 3-for-4 outing, while Wascavage and Powell were both 2-for-4. Mary Jane Wooley and Hope Cain had the other hits.

Jada Hayes went the distance, allowing two runs on two hits and five walks with nine strikeouts in eight innings.
