Meth lab found in Hartselle

Three people were charged with manufacturing drugs and other drug charges Thur., Nov. 20 during a meth bust in Hartselle.

Morgan County Sheriffs Deputies went to 1901 E. Main St. to serve a child pickup order issued by the Lawrence County Circuit Court Thursday.

Deputies made contact with the children’s mother, Brianna Summer Byrd, 18. Deputies discovered drug paraphernalia items in the residence as they were getting the children who were both under 2-years-old.

Deputies contacted the Morgan County Drug Task Force, and agents arrived on the scene. After Judge Jennifer Howell signed a search warrant, agents discovered a one-pot meth lab at the residence.

Agents also found HCL gas generators, lithium batteries, cold packs, empty pseudoephedrine boxes, lighter fluid, coffee filters, pint jars containing liquid methamphetamine, multiple used syringes and marijuana paraphernalia. Agents extracted 140 grams of liquid meth from the jars.

Christopher Glenn Byrd, 43, was charged with unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance first degree, trafficking methamphetamine and felony possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $402, 500. Brianna Byrd was charged with unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance first degree, trafficking methamphetamine, felony possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of drug endangerment of a child. Her bond was set at $502,500.

Agents located Christopher Byrd’s wife Valerie Byrd, 44, at another location. She was charged with unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance first degree, trafficking methamphetamine and felony possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bond was set at $402,500.

Somerville Area Volunteer Fire was called to decontaminate the subjects. They remain in the Morgan County Jail.

The children were placed with relatives pursuant to the child pickup order. Morgan County DHs is also involved in the case.
