Danville finishes No. 2 in Muscle Shoals First Metro

Danville finished runner up to Deshler in the 4A-7A division of the Muscle Shoals First Metro Tournament Saturday.

In pool play, Danville went undefeated, beating Austin 25-17 and 25-19, Lawrence County 25-15 and 27-25 and Hewitt-Trussville 25-15 and 25-13.

The Lady Hawks defeated Curry 25-14 and 25-20 in the quarterfinals. They went on to beat Muscle Shoals 27-25 and 25-23 in the semifinals before losing to Deshler in a hard-fought tri-match 25-22, 22-25 and 15-10 in the finals.

Shelton led the team with 71 kills on the tournament. Shelton also racked up six blocks, 29 digs and six aces. Anderson tallied 124 assists and 10 aces for Saturday. Stiles led the team with 37 digs as well as 35 kills and nine aces. Harris finished the day with 21 kills of her own. Koins led the Lady Hawks with 10 blocks. Freshman Tatianna Roberts came up with 33 digs.

Danville is now 16-2 for the season. They will continue their run at home Tues., Sept. 16 with games against Austin and Muscle Shoals at 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. respectively.
