Alive, well and growing

During the 11 years I have been associated with a newspaper, one of the most often heard statements was that newspapers were dying and would not survive the future. Oftentimes, this was by someone who perhaps wanted newspapers to go away. Here in our town this has not been the case by most of our readers.

While it is true that the newspaper industry, our publications included, have made changes over the past few years, The Hartselle Enquirer and its staff are now producing more content than we were in the previous years. Most industries, if they are dying , slow production not increase the amount of output.

Three years ago, Hartselle Newspapers, LLC, our legal company name, added a lifestyle magazine to our line or products. Hartselle Living was set to publish quarterly. The success of this hyper-local product has resulted in our increasing the number of times the magazine is published. We are now discussing possible plans to publish Hartselle Living monthly.

Hartselle Enquirer also decided that we needed to increase news coverage in our end of Morgan County, including Somerville, Danville, Eva, Falkville, Priceville and other communities within this area. The Morgan Countian was added as a free publication to enable us to provide coverage to those folks residing outside of Hartselle. While we have always covered these areas, this publication has added more pages devoted to county events and happenings.

With the desire of many of our readers to have information delivered digitally, as well as to include our advertiser’s message in front of digital readers hartselleenqurier.com was added to our portfolio of news products. With the beginning of the website, the plan was to load information on the website after it was in print. We now post news as soon as it happens. This allows us to get information to you even faster.

In addition, we send an update to your email Monday through Friday letting you know of local events, happenings and other news as its occurs. We will also send at other times, if and when breaking news occurs.

While the digital and magazine publications have increased our ability to produce more content, we also have worked diligently to continue to improve our long time publication, the Hartselle Enquirer. Our goal is to provide you with the best local news coverage possible and to provide our advertisers the best format in which to promote their businesses. We all thank you for your continued support as we continue to improve our publications and, in so doing, to promote our city and surrounding area.
