‘Bargainomics’ coming to church

Aug. 15, 1945, is the anniversary of V. J. Day, or victory over Japan. I want to salute all of our veterans from all wars, both past and present, in commemoration of this important day in our history.
Our great country would not be what it is today had it not been for all the brave men and women who have fought in these wars to protect our freedom. Some have lost their lives and still are, others have returned home nursing wounds and still others have been scarred with memories they will carry for the rest of their lives. God bless America and our troops and their families.
Shady Grove Baptist Church, East Highland Baptist Church and West Hartselle Baptist Church will co-host “Bargain-omics” at West Hartselle Baptist Church on Thursday, Aug. 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. The guest speaker will be author Judy Bates of Birmingham.
She will share her wisdom on wise money management. Admission is free.
Door prizes will be awarded and there will also be a fashion show and other activities. Everyone is invited to attend. Please bring a light snack.
Special belated happy birthday wishes go out to Maxine Franklin on Aug.   16, and Jade Penn on Aug.   17.
Special happy birthday wishes go out to Lori McGuire on Aug. 19, Cissy Locklear and Leslie Williams, both on Aug.   20, and Emily Lacy and Aubrey McLamb, both on Aug. 21.
I want to wish my “special mother” Rachel Slate a very happy birthday on Aug. 19. I love you!  Special belated happy wedding anniversary wishes go out to Alan and Amy Lacy who celebrated their 14th anniversary on Aug.   17.
