Dewey Welch

A graveside service for Dewey Welch, 89, of Hartselle will be Thurs., Jan. 10, at 1 p.m. at Salem Cemetery with the Rev. John McPeek officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. There will be no visitation.

Mr. Welch died Mon., Jan. 7, 2013, at his residence. He was born March 31, 1923, in Maryland to Dewey Willard Welch Sr. and Lizzie Welch. He was a World War II veteran and was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Marion Welch of Hartselle; two sons, Jerry Welch and wife Debbie of Mechanicsville, Va., and Jim Welch and wife JoAnn of Hartselle; a brother, Henry Welch of Cleveland, Ohio; a sister, Lilly Moats of Oakland, Md.; four grandchildren, Allen Welch and wife Jennifer of Montpelier, Va., Jaime Seal and husband Chris of Hartselle, Kevin Welch and wife Terry of Aylett, Va., and Michelle Herring and husband Josh of New Kent, Va.; and five great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Hospice of the Valley or to a veteran’s charity of your choice.

The family would like to thank caregivers Norma Dempsey and Allison Evans, and a special thanks to Lynne Welch and Harold Byars, a brother-in-law and devoted friend.
