Brewer (0-2) continues to struggle in the early season. The Patriots fell 59-53 to Cullman as they opened their season at home against the Bearcats.
Brewer fell behind early in the game and trailed as much as 15 points in the first half. The Patriots were able to cut the deficit down to 12 before halftime.
In the second half, Brewer came back strong, cutting into the Bearcats’ lead to four points. However, time began to play a major factor against the Patriots and they were forced into fouling the Bearcats in their final possessions. The Bearcats were able to hit the free points and expand their lead to six and give Cullman the victory.
“We really grew up in the second half,” said Brewer head coach Doug Oldacre. “We played more to our potential, but we still have a lot of work to do.”
