McKendree UMW holds their October meeting
The McKendree United Methodist Women held their October meeting on Wed., Oct. 17, in the church library at 10 a.m.
Carolyn Besnyl gave the prayer calendar request for those in Mission work worldwide. Following this, the members gave request for local people and Wyllene Carter led the group in prayer.
The devotional was about “Giving and Stewardship” and was presented by Kay Farrer. The scriptures were from Mark 12:42 and Luke 14:13-14.
During the business session, the group voted to donate money to the Lions Club of Falkville for Christmas toys, to the McKendree Church Youth group for several projects that they are working on and also the Falkville Elementary School special needs children.
Other items discussed included, changing the United Methodist Women’s meeting date and time to the third Thursday of each month and 1:30 p.m. will be the new time.
Besnyl presented a preview of one of their future programs “Poverty in the U.S. and the World.” The United Methodist Women will meet on Nov. 15 at noon at Columbia Cottage Assisted Living in Hartselle for lunch and their meeting. The program will be on the World Thank Offering.

The Danville-Neel Elementary School staff are pictured in the formation of a “Pink Ribbon” to honor second grade school teacher, Mrs. Sharon Lawrence, who is taking cancer treatments now. She is a breast cancer survivor and now has another form of cancer.
I hope and pray that God will bless you Sharon with a full recovery. I will never forget losing my Mom Bessie Ward to cancer.
Special belated happy birthday wishes go out this week for Sue Reaves and Reighly Griffin, both on Oct. 30.
Special belated happy wedding anniversary wishes go out this week to Brad and Janna Peva-house, who celebrated their first wedding anni-versary on Mon., Oct. 29.
Special congratulations go out this week to Christopher and Kelly Terry on the birth of their daughter, Reese Joanna Terry. Reese was born on Sept. 10. She weighed eight pounds, one ounce and 21-1/2 inches long.
Reese’s proud grandparents are Mike and Jana Terry and her especially proud great-grandmother is Laura Terry. Reese is also the great-niece of Avis Wallace and Steve and Mary Terry.
Members of Shady Grove Baptist Church express Christian love and prayers for the following soldiers and their families: Jeff Hartsfield, Brandon Jones, Derek Jones, Aaron Money, Jeremy White, Jack C. Herbert, John Black, Joseph Hardin, Wes Parker, Anthony Thomas, Matthew Young, Lee Thompson and Brad Wal-lace. God bless all of our troops and their families.
The Danville Middle School Homecoming attendants are announced as follows: fifth grade – Katy Sparkman and Emma Strockbine; sixth grade – Caitlin White and Gweyn Crowe; seventh grade – Ashley Brakeman, Jackie Jacobs and Gracie Loyd; and eighth grade – Kasey Glasscock, Morgan Weatherwax, Kirby Posey, Haley Bryson and Scarlett Shipley.
The attendants for Danville High School are ninth grade – Zoe Shumake, Sara Beth Turner; 10th grade – Mikayla Hill, Trista Lee Nelson; 11th grade – Sloan Lindsey and Erin Turner; and 12th grade –Kelsey Alvis, Kristin Hallmark and Jessie Merriman.
The members of Shady Grove Baptist Church express christian love and heartfelt sympathy to Hazel Parker and family in the death of her brother, J. W. Eaton.
