Crestline Elementary School’s PTO has announced plans for its annual fall festival Sat., Oct. 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the school campus.

The fundraiser will feature its usual prize games for the kids, food court, cakewalk, silent auction plus some new events.

Each classroom teacher has selected an outing he or she would like to host for their students. Examples are: bowling, ice skating and art lessons. Festival goers will have the opportunity to make bids on the outing of their choice. The class that generates the highest dollar value in bids will be able to share in the outing offered by their teacher.

Another new event is a Mini-Book Fair, which will be conducted in the library. Parents, grandparents and other school patrons are invited to drop by the library during the festival and check out a large selection of new books for sale.

An event leading up to the festival involves the purchase of paper chain links for display overhead in the school hallways. Each link represents a $1 donation and may be used to promote a business, if the purchaser desires. The links are used to make chains and the chains will remain in place for the remainder of the school year.

“We hope to sell 6,000 links,” said festival chairperson Amy Balch. “It’s our biggest fundraising event and its success will go a long way toward helping us reach our overall goal.

“Our festival has appeal for the entire family,” Balch stated. “And it’s open to the entire community. Our hope is that many people outside of the Crestline family will come out and join us in having a good time.”

Prize games totaling about 30 will be conducted in both gyms, in addition to an outdoor area behind the gyms. Inflatable rides will be set up in that area. Tickets are 25 cents each and most games require two tickets. A watering hole will also be operating outside where drinks will be available.

A food court will be open in the cafeteria. It will serve steak and barbecue sandwiches, hot dogs and pizza, in addition to chips, drinks and desserts.

The array of items up for bids at the silent auction includes sports items, custom jewelry and automotive service certificates. These items will be on display in the music room. Most were donated by local merchants.

The PTO uses proceeds from the festival to help offset printing costs and supplement teachers’ allotments for classroom supplies and teaching aids.
