Lady Hawks ace area tournament test

Danville (37-17) won the Class 3A, Area 13 volleyball tournament Thursday night at home.

Danville defeated Good Hope in the finals 25-16, 27-25, 25-23 to clinch first place in the area.

With the win, the Lady Hawks will face Susan Moore in the first round of the Super-Regional Tournament at the Von Braun Center Oct. 26 at 11:30 a.m. Good Hope will face Area 9 winner Ashville at 9 a.m.

Sydni Shelton led the Lady Hawks in the finals with 34 kills, 10 digs and two blocks. Megan Luker added 11 kills and three blocks.

Charlee Anderson had 49 assists and 10 digs in the win followed by Kellee Stiles with 11 digs and Gracie George with 10 digs.

Danville defeated Hanceville 25-6, 25-10, 25-5 in the area semifinals despite Shelton not playing in the match.

Luker had nine aces in the win while Sloan Lindsey, Anderson and Crystal Carter all had six aces each. Anderson also added 23 assists and four digs while Lindsey had four digs.

Carter led the team with nine kills while Stiles added five kills.

Lady Hawks split tri-match at home

Danville’s varsity volleyball team earned a win over Priceville but fell to Addison during Senior Night Oct. 16.

Megan Luker was recognized as the team’s only senior.

The Lady Hawks defeated Priceville 25-23, 25-22 and lost to Addison 25-14, 25-13.

Statistical leaders in both matches combined were Andrea Carter with 15 kills, Luker with 11 kills and 11 digs, Charlee Anderson with 26 assists, Sloan Lindsey with 14 digs and three aces and Kellee Stiles with 13 digs.
