Board welcomes new member, chairperson

Dr. James L. Joy, a local dentist, was welcomed as a newcomer Hartselle School Board member and board member Jennifer Sittason assumed her new role as chairperson at a regular meeting on Monday night.
Joy. a former board member, was appointed by the city council to fill a position vacated by board chairman Dr. Andrew Dukes, who opted not to seek reappointment to a second term.
Sittason was appointed by the board to follow Dukes as chair after serving as vice chairman.
Recognition was extended to Jordan Hale, a second grader at Crestline Elementary School by Superintendent Dr. Mike Reed. Jordan won first place in the Alabama APT Reading Rainbow Young Writer and Illustrators Contest and received an engraved plaque to commemorate her achievement.
After receiving her award, she read her book entitled “Jay Goes to the Barber Shop.”
