Lady Blue Devils go 3-1 in Elkmont Tournament

Falkville High School’s volleyball team compiled a 3-1 record at the Elkmont Invitational Tournament.

The Lady Blue Devils won three straight matches before falling to Ardmore 25-14, 25-11 in the semifinals. They logged wins against Columbia (2-0) and West Limestone (2-0) in pool play. In first round tournament action, they defeated West Limestone for the second time, 2-1 (20-25, 25-21, 17-15).

Lizzie Davis compiled a combined 18 kills, 20 digs, 12 blocks and four aces to lead the Lady Blue Devils. Amber Riddle had 51 assists and 21 digs, Tiana Drinkard scored 12 kills and 16 digs, Sydney Moore added 10 kills, 21 digs and five blocks, Emily Mickelson had 17 kills, Amanda Muse added five aces and Patricia Kilgore had 18 digs.

DHS goes 3-1

Danville’s Lady Hawks (12-6) earned a 3-1 record last week by defeating East Lawrence and Haleyville in a tri-match at East Lawrence.

They defeated Haleyville 2-1 and swept the host team.

Sydni Shelton finished with 24 kills while Charlee Anderson had eight digs and 37 assists. Andrea Carter chipped in 10 kills. Sloan Lindsey added seven digs followed by Kellee Stiles with six aces and Crystal Carter with four aces.

On Tuesday, DHS split with Central Florence and Hatton in a volleyball tri-match at Hatton on Sept. 4.

Statistical leaders were Sydni Shelton with 16 kills, 19 digs and four aces, Megan Luker with nine kills and four blocks, Kellee Stiles with eight blocks, Andrea Carter with three blocks and Sloan Lindsey with 12 digs.

PHS 2-1 in tourney

Priceville’s Lady Bulldogs recorded a 2-1 record at the Decatur Invitational Volleyball Tournament.

Leading the Lady Bulldogs was Alison Varner with a combined 12 kills, 10 blocks, 17 assists and 10 aces. Kayla Parton added 47 digs and Peyton Parker scored 35 assists.

Against Brooks, McKenzie Parker had eight kills and Jada Beverly scored 12 digs; Emily Williams had eight digs and Shyanne Stackhouse seven kills against Athens; and Emilee Cunningham scored six kills against Decatur Heritage.
