Funeral for S.M. Mac McAllister, 82, of Hartselle will be Thursday (today), March 20, at 7 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. David Gamble officiating and Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home directing. A graveside service will be Friday, March 21, at 3 p.m. at Big Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery in Dothan with Dr. Steve Hankins officiating and Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home directing.
Mr. McAllister died Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at Decatur General Hospital.
He was born June 23, 1925, in Malvern to Dorman Sybert McAllister and Dixie Bell McAllister. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War, and was retired from Goodyear Service Stores after 33 years.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette McAllister of Hartselle; two sons, Dale McAllister and wife Carolyn of Hamilton, Ohio and Bruce McAllister and wife Ellen of Taylor, S.C.; a sister, Mary Jo Dunning of Beaufort, S.C; a sister-in-law, Shirley McAllister of Dothan; and six grandchildren, Brannon, Shayne, Kellie, Karis, Marilyn and Nancy.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Bethel Baptist Church Building Fund, Baptist World Missions, Bob Jones University or Gideons Bible Fund.
