FALKVILLE - Brewer took advantage of several errors Monday afternoon to post a 7-2 victory over Falkville in prep softball action.
The win was the first of the season for the Lady Patriots.
The Lady Patriots, who improved to 1-4 overall, had three hits in the top of the second inning to score six times.
Lawrence made sure that the lead was more than enough. She allowed just one hit in five innings of work while striking out four in the win.
Thompson closed out the game with two innings in relief.
McKinsey Stump doubled twice to lead the Lady Patriots at the plate.
Kris Roberts started Brewer’s second inning explosion off with a single and Carrie Morrow followed with a walk.
Elizabeth Keener drove in a run with a grounder and reached safely on an error. Lawrence singled and Kristen Brown, pinch running for Lawrence, later scored on a passed ball.
Brewer added two more runs when Stump had a two-out single to give the Lady Patriots a 6-0 lead.
Brewer threatened in the third with a pair of leadoff walks, but three straight strikeouts ended the threat.
Falkville’s Sarah Goodman led the Lady Blue Devils with two hits, including a double. Celese Sharbutt and Katie Annerton both added singles in the loss.
Brewer added a final run in the top of the sixth inning when Summer McBride scored Lynn Randall with a sacrifice bunt.
All of Falkville’s runs came in the bottom of the sixth inning when the Lady Blue Devils put together a string of four hits.
