Are you shining brightly?

By Todd Barrier

It has been hot this summer. Really hot! We have weather apps, meteorologists and amateur weather gurus to tell us how the weather is going to be. However this summer, you didn’t need any of those, especially the last couple of weeks. You simply just walked outside and there was no hiding it. Mother nature didn’t make you guess, you knew exactly who she was, a bright burning dry afternoon once again! Is it that way in your life with Christ. When people hear that you follow Christ, is it a surprise? Do they wonder how they didn’t realize that already or is it clear as day to them? Do they see you and there’s no hiding it, there’s no denying it? That’s how it should be! Just like walking outside on a hot day there is no denying it, the world should have no problem figuring out who you are! In Matthew 5 we are told to shine as a light, In Romans 12:11 we are told to be fervent in spirit, Psalm 34:5 says that those that look to him are radiant and their faces shall never be ashamed. Is this how you live your life? Just like we can go outside and tell when it’s a burning hot day, the world should always be able to tell that we are on fire for God! Are you shining brightly?
