Tigers fall on the road at Mountain Brook

The Tigers’ three-game winning streak ended with a 53-35 loss on the road at Mountain Brook this past Friday.

The Spartans hit five three-pointers in the first quarter on their way to a 17-9 lead. Kiah Key had five points to lead the Tiger scoring in the quarter.

Mountain Brook pulled away in the second quarter, outscoring Hartselle 17-3 to take a 34-12 lead into halftime. The Spartans knocked down two more threes to give them seven in the first half. Luke Ward hit a three-pointer to give the Tigers their only points of the quarter.

In the third quarter, the Tigers woke up, outscoring Mountain Brook 15-10 to cut their lead to 44-27. Hartselle got three-pointers from Key, Ward and Thomas Itsede to help cut into the Spartan lead.

Ward finished with nine points to lead the Tigers (3-4). Kiah Key added eight points and Itsede had five points.

Ty Davis led the Spartans with a game-high 12 points. Dive Rowe added eight points.
