Special to the Enquirer

A Hartselle man is in jail after allegedly abusing a corpse – a Class C felony in Alabama.

Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Darrell Bruce Reeves, 40, of Hartselle, charging him with abuse of a corpse in relation to a female body that was found on Jenkins Court just off of Highway 36 W., in Hartselle, in December 2020.

Feb. 1, after deputies attempted to execute the warrant at Reeves home, Reeves turned himself in at the Morgan County Jail, where he was booked.

The deceased was identified as Bobbie Jolynn Garrison, 43, of Lacey’s Spring.

According to the sheriff’s officer, Dec. 27, 2020, at approximately 9:41 a.m., a hunter reported a body on Jenkins Court off of Highway 36 in unincorporated Hartselle.

Deputies responded, located the deceased white female and secured the scene.

Coronor Jeff Chunn and investigators arrived and processed the scene and began a death investigation.

According to Alabama code Section 13A-11-13, abuse of corpse is defined as knowingly treat(ing) a human corpse in a way that would outrage ordinary family sensibilities.
