Hartselle’s varsity traveled to Athens on Friday (12/7) to face the opposing Golden Eagles.

The game tipped off and was closely contested through a quarter, as Athens held a 16-14 lead, but the Tigers came out striking in the following period. Brody Peebles tacked on 13 of Hartselle’s 21 in the second quarter alone while Athens only managed to score 10, giving the Tigers a 35-26 advantage at the half.

Hartselle stayed consistent through the second half of the night, and managed to only add on to their lead as they defeated Athens by a score of 72-58. Brody Peebles was on fire from the field throughout the night and led the Tigers in scoring with 36 points, while Keondre Swoopes contributed 13. The Golden Eagles top scorer was Tyler Williams with 15, as Chandler Leopard and Takorian Porter also were in double digits from the floor with 10 points each.
