Harvey Douglas Oden

Mr. Harvey Douglas Oden passed away peacefully on Monday, March 27, 2017 at his home, at the age of 84.  He was born March 19, 1933 in Mississippi.  He was a happily retired truck driver for Conagra Foods in Decatur.  An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting and fishing, observing the cycles of nature and just “watching things grow.” A man of great patience, integrity, loyalty and love, He was an inspiration to all that knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilburn “Bud” Oden and Mattie Lee McCarley Oden as well as several brothers and one sister.

A graveside service was Sat., April 1, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Rock Creek with Charles Crawford officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Lorene Oden; two sons, Douglas Edward Oden (Kay) and Gary Lynn Oden (Mindy); a daughter, Lorie Oden Moryc (Michael); a brother, Dean Oden; a sister, Ruby Lennox; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will include nephews and grandsons.

The family would like to send a special thank you to Clearview Cancer Institute and Valley Hospice.
