Falkville discusses Air Evac plan

The Falkville Town Council discussed a membership for a Municipal Site Plan with Air Evac Tues., June 30 at their regularly scheduled work session.

LaTere Jones of Air Evac brought the membership plan before the council. Air Evac is offering memberships to towns and cities for free local Air Evac services for a fee based on population. For $4,500, Falkville could offer everyone within its town limits free Air Evac services in a time of emergency and a nation-wide Air Evac membership for a discounted price.

Nation-wide Air Evac memberships are generally $65 a year, but it will be offered for $35 a year for new memberships and renewals to Falkville citizens if Falkville approves the plan.

Air Evac would advertise the discounted memberships throughout the town through posters, newspapers and radio.

Jones said Air Evac is offering this membership plan to every town and city they can, and several places have already agreed to the plan. Once enough councils in a county agree to the plan, Air Evac will bring the plan to the county commission to ask that they cover the rest of the county with the plan.

The Falkville Town Council had positive feedback about the plan, but they will continue to talk about the best course of action for the town.
