Herman Melvin Hardin

April 9, 2015

Funeral for Herman Melvin Hardin of Falkville was Sun., April 12, at 2 p.m. at the New Life Church with Bro. Philip Hardin, Dr. Milan Dekich and Dr. Michael Mason officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial was in Jones Cemetery.

Mr. Hardin died Thur., April 9, 2015, at his residence after a long hard battle fought with cancer. He was a fun-loving, easygoing man, who always seemed to see the positive and bright side of everything. He worked at Wolverine Tube for 33 years, farmed and enjoyed working a big garden every summer. He also loved gospel music and helped lead singing at Round Top Church and sometimes at Fairview and New Life Church in Falkville. He was the patriarch of the Hardin Family and was loved and highly respected by so many because of his good nature and his deep faith in God. Not only has his family suffered a great loss, but also has his community. He will be sorely missed. His son, Mike, his parents, Melvin and Ruby Hardin and a sister, Venera Howse preceded him in death. He is walking the streets of gold with his parents, his son and a host of relatives. He is singing with the angels and we all will see him again some day.

He is survived by his loving wife, Edna, who stood by him through thick and thin for 69 years; a daughter, Sarah Holmes (Benny); two sons, Joe Hardin (Paula) and Ricky Hardin (Sandy); grandchildren, Tracy Holmes (Paula), Monica Holmes Higgonbotham, Hannah Hardin Witt (Tim), Haley Hardin Roberts (Matt), James Hardin (Ericka) and John Hardin; eight great-grandchildren; and a nephew, Charles Howse.
