Falkville softball roundup for March 24

SOFTBALL: Buckhorn 11, Falkville 0

The Lady Blue Devils failed to get a hit against Buckhorn March 24 during pool play of the Gulf Shores Classic.

Makenzie Smith and Emily Gray were the only base runners, as they both reached on errors.

Maddie White took the loss, allowing six earned runs on nine hits with four walks and one strikeout.

SOFTBALL: Trinity Episcopal 11, Falkville 0

Maddie White and Cheyenne Wilson had the only hits in a shutout loss to Trinity.

White took the loss, allowing eight earned runs on nine hits and five walks.

SOFTBALL: Austin 9, Falkville 1

Maddie White, Cheyenne Wilson and Bracey Thompson each had a single for Falkville. Kaitlyn McMurray had an RBI, driving in Shahnah Story.

Callie Garner took the loss, allowing three earned runs on five hits and one walk with a strikeout in three innings. McMurray allowed two more earned runs on three hits and one walk with two strikeouts for one inning.

Smith and Emily Gray combined for a double play in the game.

Falkville 11, Tanner 3

Falkville’s Lady Blue Devils (5-2) pushed across four runs in the first inning and went on to defeat Tanner 11-3 in an area game on the road Thursday.

Maddie White paced Falkville in hitting with a home run, double, 4 RBIs and scored three runs. Bailey Anders had a double, 3 singles and scored three runs.

Cheyenne Wilson had a double, a single, an RBI and scored a run. McKenzie Smith had three singles, an RBI and scored three runs.

Kaitlyn McMurray had a pair of singles and 4 RBIs.Callie Garner had a single, and scored a run and Sky Engle scored a run.

Callie Garner pitched four innings and was credited with the win. She allowed no runs on no hits while striking out 5 and walking 1. McMurray pitched 2 2/3 innings, allowing 2 runs on 2 hits with 5 walks. Maddie White pitched 1/3 inning. She gave up 1 run on 2 hits while walking 2.

Addison 5, Falkville 1

Falkville’s Lady Blue Devils (4-2) fell to Addison 5-1 in an area game at home March 17.

The visitors went up 1-0 in the first inning and added two runs each in the 3rd and fifth innings. Falkville scored its only run in the second inning.

Kaitlyn McMurray had a pair of singles and an RBI and Callie Garner singled.

McMurray pitched 3 2/3 innings and was tagged with the loss. Garner pitched 2 and 1/3 innings in relief.
