Here is a look at local fireworks shows this weekend:

• The Pentecostals of Hartselle will have a fireworks show July 3 at 9 p.m. at the site of its future home on Alabama 36 West. The show is expected to last about 30 minutes.

• The town of Somerville will host “Concert in the Courthouse Square” and a fireworks show Thurs. July 3 at 6 p.m. Musical guests include David Dunlap, Wayne Abbott and Freshwater Creek. The concert will last until 8:30 p.m., when the 30-minute fireworks show, sponsored by Somerville Baptist Church, will start. Vendors will sell hotdogs, hamburgers, popcorn, ice cream and drinks. All proceeds will benefit the preservation of the historic Somerville Courthouse. The 177-year-old courthouse is the oldest courthouse in the state, and it is still used for courtroom proceedings once a month. The event is part of the “Concert in the Courthouse Square” that has been going on every Tuesday during the summer.

• For the 48th year, the Spirit of America Festival promises to be the destination for free family fun on the Fourth of July. Originating during the height of the Vietnam War, this festival continues its mission of supporting patriotism and traditional American values. This year’s event will begin at 8:15 p.m. with a 45 minute video presentation followed by the largest fireworks celebration ever seen in the River City. At 9 p.m., the inspirational program will conclude with the Spirit of AmericaFireworks Display. This spectacular show will delight and dazzle as the night sky is illuminated and the embers are reflected over the beautiful Tennessee River.  The fireworks display soundtrack will be simulcast with the ClearChannel Radio (WDRM and WQRV the River)

• Hopewell Baptist Church will host a Night of Praise July 6 from 5 to 9 p.m. The event will feature free barbecue, live music, water slide and bounce houses for the kids, door prizes and more fun activities. LifeSouth’s bloodmobile will also run a blood drive at the event. The night will conclude with a fireworks show. For more information, call 256-466-1692.
