Funeral for Lewie Rogers, 90, of Danville will be Sat., March 22, at 11 a.m. at Johnson Chapel UMC, in Danville, with Bro. Tom Salter, Bro. Roger Penn and Bro. Forrest Long officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Johnson Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Fri., March 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Rogers died Wed., March 19, 2014, at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center in Mobile. He was born Feb. 22, 1924, in Morgan County to Henry Rogers and Ora Belle Roberts Rogers. Mr. Rogers was a Veteran of World War II, where he served in the Navy. He attended the last two reunions of his Destroyer, the U.S.S. Waldron (DD699). He served on the Board with the Wolverine Credit Union and was a Mason (Nunn-Oden Lodge #398) in Hartselle. He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Rogers of Danville; a daughter, Pam Chaffin of Spanish Fort; two sisters, Eloise Livingston of Michigan, and Dannie McCarley of Muscle Shoals; and a grandchild, Evelyn Chaffin.

Pallbearers will be Bud Burchell, Kevin Long, Frank Ellis, Brent Jacobs, Luke Jacobs and Gerald Penn.

Honorary pallbearers will be Milford Fields and Billy Wynn.

In lieu of flowers, family requests that memorials donations be made to Johnson Chapel UMC.
