Funeral for Orvel Starr Jr., 91, of Sanford N.C. was Sat., April 27, at 2 p.m. at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home with the Revs. Steve Johnson and Donald Luellen presiding.
Burial was in Cool Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Sanford with military honors.
Mr. Starr died Thur., April 25, 2013, at Liberty Commons Retirement Center. He was born Dec. 17, 1921, in Krypton, Ky. to the late Orvel Starr Sr. and Rosa Baldwin Starr. Mr. Starr worked for Sanford Motor Sales for 38 years prior to owning and operating Starr’s Auto Repair. In years past, he attended St. Stephen’s Catholic Church and was a lifetime member of the VFW. He was a World War II veteran serving in the United States Army. He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Dorothy Wilson, Jessie Dutton, Buddy Starr, Robert Starr and Kathleen Edwards.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita Harkey Starr; five sons, David Starr and wife Linda, Richard Starr, Rodney Starr and wife Susie, Tony Starr and wife Rebecca, Gary Starr and wife Kim, all of Sanford, N.C.; four daughters, Rita Kreusch and husband Bob of Yellville, Ark., Patty Oakley and husband Buck of Cameron, N.C., Crystal Garner and husband Tony of Cumnock, N.C. and Lisa Perry and husband Michael of Sanford, N.C.; a brother, Lonnie Starr and wife Ann of Hartselle; 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
