FUMC hosts 2013 Cancer Survivor Celebration dinner

Have you ever thought that no one cared and that you had just about gone your last mile?

Isaiah 41:10 tells us: “Fear thou not; for I am with thee; be not dismayed; for I am thy God; I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

We need not fear, because:

• God’s presence is with us. “I am with thee.”

• God has established a relationship with us. “I am thy God.”

• God’s assurance of strength, help and victory over sin and death is certain.

On Monday evening, my husband Nathan and I attended the 2013 Survivor Celebration dinner at the First United Methodist Church in Hartselle.

So much hard work goes into preparing this event for cancer survivors and their guests.

I would like to say a very heartfelt thank you for making our evening so special.

Members of the 2013 Survivor Celebration Committee are: Elaine Balch, co-chair; Dana McCutcheon, co-chair, Dana Davis, Lisa Demastus, Diedrah English, Shawna Fincher, Myra Garrett, Tara Hamlett, Lori Knox, Ginger McComb, Jane McCutcheon, Jenny McFee, Tasha McFee, Mary Morrow, Marla Odom, Sonya Preuitt and Peggy Reynolds.

I was the lucky one at our table, so I would like to thank the BRAC Pack for my beautiful lantern.

Christian love and sympathy is extended to the family and friends of Amos Pass, Norma Buttram and Rosa Part-ridge.

The loving memory flowers on the Commun-ion Table at New Center Baptist Church were placed recently by Sally and Kody, in memory of Kenneth (K.V.) Vest. Our hearts were broken seven years ago today.

Though our hearts are saddened and he is greatly missed by all, we know that we will see him again someday soon.

Happy birthday wishes go out to Jarrod Fortinberry on May 2, Ilene Smith on May 5, Fay Smith on May 7, Donald Edwards and Marsha Smith on May 8.

Happy anniversary wishes to Joe and Janice Roberts on May 3, Bill and Mary Montgomery on May 4, Will and Tara Summerford on May 5 and Joe and Tiny Hollis on May 7.
