The Morgan County Commission accepted a low bid of $49,190 from G-Core Contracting of Decatur for interior renovations to about 35 percent of the Farm Services Building on Highway 36, West, Hartselle at its regular meeting Tuesday morning.

Renovations will take place in the space leased to Farm Service Offices operating under the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

“We’re currently leasing the space under a one-year extended term,” said District 1 Commissioner Randy Vest. “Farm Services requested upgrades to satisfy a proposed 10-year lease agreement. We hope to have the renovations done by June 30.”

The project will include repainting the interior, installing floor tile in the entryway, computer room and break room, replace carpet, install new counter tops, install new walls and doors in entrance area to upgrade security, add lights and make other electrical changes.

The commission acted o other matters as follows:

•Authorized the chairman to submit an application to the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs for the continuation of funding for the third year of a three-year grant cycle for the Juvenile Accountability Block grant. This grant provides funding for the Truancy Intervention program.

•Authorized approval of matching funds allowing the use of carryover funds from the prior year for $616 from the Juvenile Probation budget for the Juvenile Accountability Block Grant.

•Authorized the chairman to submit an application to the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs for a Juvenile Accountability Block Grant. This grant provides funding for a pre-adjudicatory screening and evaluation program for juveniles at the point of entry or re-entry into the juvenile court system.
