Dusty Smith family thanks residents for support

Dear Editor,

To the people of Hartselle and Morgan County, I would like to extend my appreciation for all you have done throughout the services and funeral of my grandson, Jerry Dustin Smith.

Some of those include:

• Preston and Audry Cory and family of Fort Polk

• The Smiths

• Freedom Fighters who led the procession

• Oak Ridge United Methodist Church

• Shady Grove Baptist Church

• Hartselle City Police Department

• All Morgan County firefighters

• People and customers of Libby’s Catfish Restaurant

• Soldiers in New York and Louisiana

• Our soldiers in Afghanistan

• Friends of Dusty: Zach Allen and Ben Townson

• Young boys and girls who grew up with Dusty, many of whom I knew

• All military teams, soldiers, personnel and honor guards for the farewell salutes.

Special thanks to Oak Ridge Fire Department and its volunteers for bringing my boy home.

My deepest, heartfelt, humble thanks to all of you. You have been a blessing.

Roberta L. Smith “Memaw” and family
