Peoples Bank of Alabama celebrated the close of its “2012 Giving Back” Facebook Charity Drive Aug. 10 at the Burrow Center Auditorium of Wallace State Community College.

Peoples Bank launched the drive on July 11. Voting for the first three weeks determined the top ten charities with the most votes, followed by one more week of voting between those top ten charities. The three charities with the most votes out of those ten shared the grand prize of $35,000.

During last night’s reception, ten charities were given checks totaling more than $50,000. Those charities and persons accepting were:

Top three Charities received $11,666 each. They are: The Link Of Cullman Co. – Dawn Owens, The Wellhouse – Alexa Likis-James and Tajuan Lewis and Al Foster & Adoptive Parent Assoc. – William “Buddy” Hooper.

Rounding Out The Top 10, with each receiving $2,500 were SNAP, Cullman Elks Lodge – Bob Chaney; Autisim Society of Alabama – Margaret Bishop and Jessica Dyson, American Cancer Society – Gidgett Overton; Appalachian Youth Park and Rec, Dba K.A.R.E. – Kevin Wallace, North Alabama Court Appointed Special Advocates – Manda Rivers and Habitat For Humanity Of Morgan County – Landis Griffin.

According to bank president Chris Sawyer, “Our “GIVING BACK” Charity Drive was a huge success and a wonderful opportunity for us to support local organizations which serve our communities.”
