CSM Lawrence Eldridge Matherly Sr., 63, died Wed., June 13, 2007, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born July 14, 1943, in Florida to John Bennett Matherly and Doris Helen Pruitt Matherly.
Arrangements were handled by Peck Funeral Home.
CSM Matherly was retired from the U.S. Army as a command sergeant major. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Decatur.
He is survived by his wife, Tammy Ruth Matherly of Somerville; nine sons, Lawrence Eldridge Matherly Jr. of Alabama; Lawrence Eldridge Matherly II, Lawrence Eldridge Matherly V, Michael Anthony Matherly, Timothy Troy Matherly, Casey Matherly, Donnie Matherly Robert J. Matherly and John Matherly; seven daughters, Ackie Ann Milan, Debbie D. Capp, Lynette Marie Florney, Ruth Marie Matherly, Doris Helen Matherly, Ashley Matherly and Tammy Ruth Matherly; three sisters, Charlene Wright, Francis Crockett and Janet Matherly; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
