Funeral for David A. Sartin, 83, of Hartselle was Friday, July 8, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Gordon Wilbanks, Bro. Ernest Morris and Bro. Ralph Switzer officiating.
Burial was in Fairview Cemetery in Cullman County.
Mr. Sartin died Wednesday, July 6, 2005, at his residence. He was born April 14, 1922, in Marion County to Tommy Alvin Sartin and Susie Louis Cook Sartin.
He was a member of Vinemont Christian Church and a volunteer with Hartselle Medical Center. Mr. Sartin was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II where he served in North Africa, France and Germany and participated in the Battle of the Bulge. He earned the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with Bronze Stars and a Good Conduct Medal. He loved his family and friends and was an open-hearted man. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Sartin; one son, Larry Norwood; two daughters, Joy Brown and Martha Green; and one brother, Alvis Sartin.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Norwood Sartin of Hartselle; four sons, David E. Sartin of Trussville, Randy Sartin of Decatur, Danny Sartin of Martinsville, Va., and Gary Norwood of Hartselle; two daughters, Mary Switzer of Las Vegas and Bonnie Parker of Decatur; three brothers, Aubrey Sartin of Enterprise and Vernon "Pete" Sartin and Brady Sartin, both of Haleyville; 23 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Al Wiley, Don Norwood, Todd Norwood, Spencer Clemmons, Tim Parker and Rodney Lazenby.
Honorary pallbearers were Andy Vest and John Metcalf.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley.
