Tigers may host playoff game

By Staff
Was the Cullman game the last home game for the Tiger seniors? It may not be, in spite of being the last scheduled regular season home game. Hartselle can host a first-round playoff game with two more region wins.
Hartselle is currently 4-1 in 5A, Region 8 play. The Tigers are tied for second place with both Athens and Walker. Russellville is 5-0 and has the inside track to the region title, having defeated all three teams tied for second.
The Tigers travel to Florette this week to tangle with Brewer High School and then go to Jasper to take on Walker High to end region play. If Hartselle can win both games, they would finish second in 5A, Region 8 play. Hartselle would hold tiebreakers over both Athens and Walker and would clinch the runner-up spot in the region.
Region 8's second place team will host Region 6's third place team in the playoffs opening round on Nov. 12..
Currently Etowah, Gadsden, Oxford and Pinson Valley are all tied for first place in Region 6.
All other schools in the region have been eliminated from playoff contention. It can't be determined at this time, which school the Tigers would host should they clinch second place.
